uefa.com casts its eye back over the past seven days to take its pick of the week's top stories as VfL Wolsburg make a splash, Superpippo strikes again and SK Rapid Wien prove there is more to Austria than skiing.

Team: VfL Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg struck a blow for the UEFA Champions League newcomers by winning their European Champion Clubs' Cup debut 3-1 against PFC CSKA Moskva. Grafite stole the headlines with a hat-trick but the German champions, inspired by playmaker Zvjezdan Misimović, showed enough throughout the side to suggest a place in the knockout phase is theirs for the taking.

Player: Filippo Inzaghi (AC Milan)
He may have turned 36 last month but the goals keep coming for Inzaghi who scored twice more in the Rossoneri's 2-1 win at Olympique de Marseille on Tuesday. That took his scoring record in UEFA club competitions to 68, one more than fellow old-boy Raúl González who could only manage one in Real Madrid CF's 5-2 rout of FC Zürich.

Alberto Zapater made his mark in UEFA Europa League history by scoring the first goal of the group stage with a wonderful free-kick four minutes into Genoa's 2-0 win against SK Slavia Praha.

Comeback: Tomáš Rosickı (Arsenal FC)
After 20 months out injured, Tomáš Rosickı returned to the Arsenal FC starting lineup on Tuesday and helped his side engineer a recovery of their own at R. Standard de Liège. Trailing 2-0 after five minutes the Gunners hit back to run out 3-2 winners.

Late drama
Arsenal's heroics in Belgium were the prelude for a number of dramatic turnarounds on the UEFA Europa League's opening night. The pick of the bunch saw Liedson complete a hat-trick in the 88th-minute as Sporting Clube de Portugal came from behind to win 3-2 at SC Heerenveen, while FC Salzburg won 2-1 at S.S. Lazio thanks to a Marc Janko strike three minutes into added time.

All change
That was not the end of the night's action. There was still time for FC Steaua Bucureşti owner Gheorghe Becali to sack Cristiano Bergodi and, by 3am, appoint Mihai Stoichiţă as the club's new coach. It concluded a busy week on the coaching merry-go-round with PFC CSKA Moskva naming Juande Ramos in place of Zico who duly joined Olympiacos FC following Temuri Ketsbaia's shock dismissal on Monday.       

Fan power
So just how loud was the Inönü Stadium in Istanbul on Tuesday? The noise generated by Beşiktaş JK fans has been recorded at 132 decibels, the equivalent to a plane at take off, and Manchester United FC goalkeeper Ben Foster was certainly blown away by the experience. "It was deafening. There was a point in the second half when I couldn't hear myself think, it was that loud," he said after United's 1-0 win. Paul Scholes's 76th-minute goal, though, quickly silenced the crowd. "We knew what to expect," the United veteran said. "We've been to Turkey a few times now."

Beşiktaş'ın ünü dünya çapındaki taraftar grubu Çarşı, Manchester United maçında bir klasik haline gelen performanslarını yinelemişti. Siyah-beyazlı takım İngiliz devi karşısında 1-0 mağlup olmasına karşın, ortaya konulan futbol tribünlerce alkışlanmıştı.

UEFA'nın resmi internet sitesi de, Şampiyonlar Ligi ve Avrupa Ligi'nde haftanın öne çıkan olaylarını değerlendirirken, Çarşı'yı göz ardı etmedi.

'132 desibellik rekorun sahipleri salı akşamı da işbaşındaydılar' ifadesiyle verilen değerlendirmede, Manchester United'ın genç kalecisi Ben Foster'ın maç sonu verdiği ilginç demeç de ön plana çıkarıldı.

UEFA.com, Foster'ın "İkinci yarıda bir ara öyle bir gürültü vardı ki; kendi düşüncelerimi dahi duyamadım" sözlerine yer verirken, 77. dakikada galibiyet golünü atan Paul Scholes'un, 'müthiş orkestra'yı susturduğunu yazdı.

UEFA, haftanın takımı olarak Beşiktaş'ın grubunda yer alan ve CSKA Moskova'yı 3-1 yenen Wolfsburg'u seçerken, haftanın futbolcusu Marsilya'ya 2 gol atan Milan'dan Filippo Inzaghi, haftanın golü de Avrupa Ligi'nde Genoa'lı Alberto Zapater'in Slavia Prag'a attığı frikik golü seçildi.

Siyah-beyazlıların haftanın taraftarı seçildiği haberde ayrıca Manchester United`lı oyuncuların İnönü`deki atmosfere övgüleri geniş yer buldu.

Öte yandan İnönü tribünlerinin kırdığı 132 desibellik ses rekorundan bahsedilerek, Manchester United maçında rakibin üzerine kurduğu baskıdan da söz edildi.

Haberde ayrıca Manchester United kalecisi Foster`ın "Sağır ediciydi. Oyunun ikinci yarısında kendimi duyamadığım bir an olmuştu" sözlerine de yer verildi.
