Çaykur Rizespor ile Gençlerbirliği karşılaşmaları sonrasında tatile çıkacak olan Beşiktaş'ta teknik direktör Jean Tigana, takımın 28 Aralık'ta Ümraniye Nevzat Demir Tesisleri'nde toplanmasını istedi. Ancak yabancı futbolcular, "Noel tatili var. Ayrıca ülkemiz de dünyanın bir ucunda. 2 Ocak'taki kampa kadar izin istiyoruz" diyerek Tigana'dan talepte bulundu. Yerli futbolcular da bu durum üzerine harekete geçti.
